Kashmir Freezes as Cold Wave Intensifies, Srinagar Records Minus 6.6 Deg Celsius

   

SRINAGAR: The temperature across Kashmir valley continues to plummet further. Srinagar recorded a low of -6.6°C, while several places, including Shopian at -8.8°C and Sonamarg at -8.5°C, experienced even harsher conditions. Pulwama and Anantnag were not far behind, recording -8.5°C and -8.3°C respectively, while the Zojila Pass stood at a bone-chilling -23.0°C.

Pahalgam was freezing at -7.8°C, Budgam at -7.0°C, and Khudwani at -7.1°C. Bandipora, Kupwara, Kokernag, and Ganderbal all reported lows of -6.4°C, while Baramulla recorded -6.0°C.

In the Jammu region, temperatures also dipped but remained relatively mild compared to Kashmir. Jammu recorded a low of 7.6°C, while Katra dropped to 6.4°C. The temperature in Banihal stood at -2.0°C, Bhaderwah at 0.9°C, Padder at -5.7°C, while other areas like Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba recorded 1.1°C, 0.7°C and 2.5°C respectively.

Leh registered a -9.2°C and Kargil slightly warmer at -7.8°C.
