Against the all India average of 30% of transmission and distribution losses in power, J&K has 54.20% – one of the highest in India.
The government informed the state legislature that unlike Jammu that has 41.04% T&D losses, Kashmir region has 64.39%.
In Kashmir Ganderbal tops with 74.62% followed by Shopian with 72.55%. The capital Srinagar city has lowest T&D losses at 62%.
In contrast, the highest losses are reported from Doda which 37.39% followed by Kishtwar with 34.28%. Jammu city’s T&D losses are at 33.73% nearly half of the Srinagar city.
