SRINAGAR: A 13-member media delegation from Srinagar began a five-day media tour of Chennai on Sunday, organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar Region, to provide journalists firsthand exposure to Central Government institutions, projects and initiatives in Tamil Nadu.

The delegation, comprising 11 journalists and two PIB officials, arrived in Chennai on Sunday and was received by PIB Chennai officials at the Chennai International Airport.
The tour is part of PIB Srinagar’s media outreach initiatives and is aimed at giving participating journalists a closer understanding of national-level policies and their implementation on the ground.
The delegation is being led by Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, Central Bureau of Communication, who is serving as the Conducting Officer. Information Assistant at PIB Srinagar, Ifham Ul Islam, is accompanying the delegation.
During the tour, the journalists are scheduled to visit various Central Government establishments and projects in Chennai and interact with senior officials to understand their functioning, operations and implementation of government programmes.
Before the delegation’s departure, PIB Srinagar Director Qazi Salman briefed the participants on the objectives of the visit and urged them to make meaningful use of the interactions and engagements during the tour.
Salman congratulated the participating journalists and expressed confidence that the visit would provide opportunities for professional engagement while helping them gain a better understanding of the functioning of Central Government institutions.
The tour is scheduled to continue through September 19.
