SRINAGAR: Official data reveals that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered 444 cases across Jammu and Kashmir over the past five years.
The data shows that 444 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed in alleged corruption cases since 2020, spanning Jammu and Kashmir from Srinagar to Jammu and reflecting ongoing challenges and a commitment to accountability.
Kashmir province recorded 275 FIRs, significantly higher than Jammu province’s 169 cases during the same period.
The year 2022 saw the highest number of FIRs, with 128 cases, including 88 from Kashmir province—the largest annual figure for the region in five years. Srinagar’s ACB Police Station alone registered 40 FIRs in 2022, the highest for any single station. Jammu’s Central Police Station followed with 20 FIRs in 2024.
In 2020, the ACB registered 71 FIRs, with Kashmir province accounting for 38 cases and Jammu province close behind with 33. The following year, 2021, saw an increase, with 94 FIRs filed—61 from Kashmir province and 33 from Jammu.
While 2022 marked a peak in corruption cases, with 128 FIRs filed, the number of cases declined in 2023, with 66 FIRs registered, of which Kashmir accounted for 45.
In 2024, 85 FIRs have been filed so far, with Kashmir province registering 43 cases and Jammu province closely following with 42. (KNO)
