SRINAGAR: A student hailing from Noor Bagh Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district faced an unfortunate demise in Iran this morning.

Arsalan Kanjwal, a medical student from Sopore, died of cardiac arrest in an Iran medical school.

The individual, Arsalan Kanjwal, was a fourth-year medical student at IUMS in Iran. “He wasn’t answering calls since last night. In the morning, we repeatedly knocked on his door, but he did not respond. Upon breaking the door after some time, we found him lifeless,” a friend of Arsalan told Kashmir Life.

The news of Arsalan’s passing has deeply saddened his family, who are now urgently seeking assistance to repatriate his body back to Kashmir. The Kanjwal family, based in Sopore, is appealing for swift aid to expedite the repatriation process, ensuring Arsalan’s final rites can be performed in his hometown.

The deceased was currently in the fourth year of his medical degree.

Jammu & Kashmir Students Association Nasir Khuehami said that the Association has taken up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and the office of LG Manoj Sinha for early repatriation of the mortal remains to bring some solace to the bereaved family.

Expressing hope, Khuehami said that we have been assured that the mortal remains will be brought back anytime in the next two days.

The family is also urging immediate communication with the embassy and the university in Iran to navigate the necessary procedures efficiently.
