GN Var, President of PSAJK, expressed gratitude for the decision, highlighting its potential to alleviate pressure on students, particularly those preparing for competitive exams. Var applauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Health and Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, and the cabinet for their dedication to educational reform. “This decision reflects a deep understanding of our region’s unique educational needs,” he stated, adding that the November session will restore a balanced academic rhythm, giving students the structure they need to succeed.

The academic year had shifted to a March start in 2022, a change that disrupted study cycles and increased stress among students. “This return to the November session is a renewed commitment to our student’s well-being and competitive readiness,” Var noted. The November session aligns more closely with J&K’s seasonal patterns, allowing students to maintain a stable study schedule and focus on academic growth and exam preparation.

Parents and educators have echoed PSAJK’s sentiments, acknowledging that the November session will provide a consistent and supportive academic environment. Many believe the change will strengthen students’ mental well-being and academic performance, reflecting the government’s commitment to quality education in the region.

In addition to celebrating the November session’s return, PSAJK has called on the government to address other pressing issues in the education sector, including: granting Registration and Recognition (RR) for all existing schools, irrespective of their affiliations; providing permanent registration for current operational schools; ensuring PSAJK representation in JKBOSE, FFRC, SCERT, and other government educational bodies; permitting schools to use textbooks beyond JKBOSE publications; establishing a single-window system for school NOC applications; abolishing the PNIC and addressing related challenges.

PSAJK emphasises that these reforms will fortify Jammu and Kashmir’s education sector, creating an inclusive and progressive system where students can excel. The government’s decision to restore the November academic session is seen as a crucial first step in this direction, inspiring optimism for continued improvements in J&K’s education landscape.
