SRINAGAR: A 80-year old woman from Bemina died at SMHS hospital Srinagar on Thursday, his sample testing positive for COVID19 posthumously.

The woman from Usmania Colony Bemina was brought to SMHS hospital on May 19 with bilateral pneumonia and hypertension complaints, Dr Salim Khan nodal officer COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar said.

He said the patient was kept in Isolation Ward and died on May 20 evening.

The sample of the elderly woman tested positive today, Dr Khan said. The body of the deceased had been kept in the mortuary of the GMC Srinagar till the report of the sample was available.

Earlier, a 70-year-old woman from Budgam died at the CD hospital.

With his death, the number of casualties due to the novel Coronavirus has reached 20 in J&K. Earlier, 19 patients have died due to COVID-19 including 17 from Kashmir and two from Jammu.
