A complete shutdown being observed in Kashmir valley following the JRL call to observe January 26, as “black day”.

On Saturday morning, the internet services in Kashmir were suspended and a huge deployment of government forces was seen on the roads, however, all the shops and other business establishments are closed throughout the valley and traffic is off the roads.

An official from the railway department said that the Srinagar-Banihal train services have also been suspended for the “precautionary measures”.

Earlier, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohd Yasin Malik asked people of Kashmir to register their strong protest against Government’s Policy of non-resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the subsequent severe “repression” unleashed on people of J&K, by observing January 26, as a black day.

JRL sin a statement said that for past 71 years people of J&K are demanding the Right to self-determination that Indian leadership promised to them not only in the United Nations or the Parliament but reiterated at Lal Chowk in Srinagar by none other than Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
