A resident of Wakharwan Pulwama, Rabiya initially learned to drive light motor vehicles before moving on to heavy motor vehicles. After obtaining a valid driving licence, she began driving her own truck across India, earning her livelihood from it.
Her family has supported her passion from the beginning. “She has been interested in driving for a long time, and we have always backed her,” said her mother-in-law, Shehnaza Begum. “Now, she drives her truck to every corner of India with our full support.”
For the past three years, Rabiya has been travelling pan-India, proving that women can excel in fields traditionally restricted to men. Despite challenges, she never wavered in her determination to pursue truck driving as a profession.
Her journey stands as an inspiration for many, highlighting the increasing role of Kashmiri women in diverse fields—(KNO).
