SRINAGAR: Kamran Khan, a Kashmiri currently residing in Chennai, has been awarded the prestigious Australia Day Achievement Medallion by the Australian Government.

Conferred on January 26, 2024, this accolade highlights outstanding contributions to government projects or essential responsibilities within Australian Government departments and agencies.

Kamran, currently serving as the Senior Director for South Asia for the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Australian Government, began his journey as a diligent student at Burn Hall School in Srinagar.

In 1992, he left Kashmir to pursue further education and graduated in Automotive Engineering at the University of Madras, ranking 3rd across the state of Tamil Nadu.

Since 2010, he played a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure industry and fostering foreign direct investment into Australia as part of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, under the Australian Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment.

Being the first Kashmiri to receive the Australia Day Achievement Medallion, Kamran is now a symbol of pride for Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing the immense talent emerging from the region.
