SRINAGAR: The IRCTC will introduce Kashmiri vegetarian meals on the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train starting the second week of July.

“We are working out a plan to serve local cuisine and it is expected to begin by mid-July,” said Anand Kumar Jha, Additional General Manager, IRCTC, as quoted by Daily Excelsior.
Dishes like ambal kaddu, babru, and Jammu paratha will be offered for breakfast, while paneer chaman, Kashmiri dum aloo, and Jammu rajma will feature in lunch options.
The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the train on June 6. The IRCTC aims to promote local flavours on premier trains and has consulted top food outlets for curated menus.
Passengers will also have access to standard vegetarian options like upma, poha, and cutlets if they opt out of regional meals.
