SRINAGAR: The District Administration in Kishtwar has suspended both ongoing yatras for June 5, 2026, in view of worsening weather conditions across the district.
In an official public notice issued by the District Administration, Kishtwar, the decision was taken in response to persistent rainfall, slippery road surfaces, and an increased threat of shooting stones along the pilgrimage routes. Authorities said the step has been taken purely as a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives and well-being of pilgrims.
Pilgrims have been advised not to commence or continue their journey today and to stay at their homes or other safe locations until further instructions are issued.
The order came into force immediately, officials confirmed.
The administration further stated that the resumption of the yatras will depend on a detailed assessment of weather and road conditions, with fresh updates to be issued accordingly.
