In communally sensitive Kishtwar a fire accident that reduced to rubble two residential houses and impacted a religious place in between has triggered a new phase of protests on Tuesday morning. Police said they are on the job and investigating the incident.
The people in Tchansri, Mughal Maidan, Kishtwar came out on roads and started protesting after a local group ‘Sanathan Dharan Sabha’ called for bandh after a local temple caught fire, which was near to those houses.
“Two residential houses caught fire at around 5.30 in the morning. When locals, both Hindus and Muslims, succeeded in controlling the fire, it incidentally engulfed a local temple,” reports reaching here said.
Meanwhile state police is on site investigating the incident. Tassel Rishu, DSP headquarters informed Kashmir Life over phone, “ We on are spot and are investigating. But so far no cause has surfaced. We are looking if it was a mischievous activity or just a normal accident.”
He also confirmed that a bandh call was given by a local group which has disturbed life in Kishtwar. “Both Muslims and Hindu people are criticising the incident,” he said.
