Justice Retired R C Gandhi commission appointed by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to probe into August 9 Kishtwar communal violence during his 4th visit to the area cross examined 96 witnesses in last three days. Thus the total number of witnesses who have been cross examined so far reaches 228.

According to sources commission rejected 22 affidavits on account of their failure to appear before the commission so far.

“Despite repeated summons, few people failed to appear before the commission so the affidavits submitted in their names have also been rejected,” they said.

Meanwhile, ruling National Conference District President, Kishtwar Imtiyaz Ahmed Zarger, while deposing before the commission alleged SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal of “framing his 14 year old minor son in rioting case and declared him as absconder.”

While confirming his statement before the commission, Imtiyaz said to this correspondent that after delivering a speech against police during a public meeting, SP Kishtwar “in order to teach him a lesson framed his innocent minor son in a false case.”
