SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across parts of Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam and Kupwara districts later this month to facilitate maintenance and related works on various transmission lines.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, power supply to HSHS Market, Batamaloo, PCR Batamaloo, Firdousabad, Sarai Bala and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8 am to 2 pm on June 28 due to the shutdown of the 33 kV GIS Tengpora Exhibition (Tapline) Cargo portion.
In south Kashmir, power supply to Mir Bazar, Vessu, Qazigund, Kund, Chowgam, Akhran, Razloo, Bonigam, Yaripora, Parigam, Tarigam, Behibagh, Daderkoot and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8 am to 2 pm on June 22 owing to the shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh-Qazigund line and the 33 kV Kulgam-Yaripora line.
Similarly, power supply to Qaimoh, Redwani and neighbouring areas will remain disrupted from 8 am to 2 pm on June 20 and June 23 due to the shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh-Qaimoh line.
KPDCL also announced the shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh Ashajipora-Malaknag double-circuit line, which will affect power supply to Ashajipora, Dialgam, Rohu, Mir Bazar, Sechin, Brinty, Malaknag, Reshi Bazar, Janglatmandi, Shirpora, BB Nowgam, Thajiwara, Brakpora and adjoining areas on June 20. The utility, however, stated that the outage would remain in force from 7 am to 2 pm. (The official release mentions 7 pm to 2 pm, which appears to require clarification.)
In north Kashmir, power supply to Handwara town, Chogal, Kulangam, Sagipora, Marathgam, the entire Lolab and Machil valleys, Trehgam, Hayan, Zurhama, Hyhama, Gushie, Deedikot, Dolipora, Magam, Vilgam and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8 am to 2 pm on June 23 due to the shutdown of the 33 kV Handwara Hot, Kupwara Old line and the 33 kV Hyhama-Dolipora line.
Further, power supply to Zachaldara, Rajwar, Hangah, Haril, Lach, Kupwara town, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Drugmulla, Nagri, Batergam, Gulgam and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8 am to 2 pm on June 25 due to the shutdown of the 33 kV Handwara Old-Kupwara Hot line.
KPDCL has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements during the shutdown period.
