Kulgam Attack: Another Non-Local Worker Succumbs, Toll Reaches Two

   

SRINAGAR: The second non-local worker injured in the militant attack in the Kellam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll to two, officials said on Saturday.

According to officials, militants opened fire on two non-local workers in Kellam on Friday evening. One of the victims died at the scene, while the other was initially taken to Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, before being referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for specialised treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bopinder and Deepak, both residents of Chhattisgarh, officials said.

Following the attack, security has been intensified across Kulgam, adjoining parts of south Kashmir and Srinagar. Security forces have also strengthened area domination measures.

Police and security forces have cordoned off the attack site and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
