Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Asiya Andrabi was arrested on Monday from her residence in Srinagar and shifted to Women’s police station Rambagh.

Nahida Nasreen, the secretary general of DeM told Kashmir Life that Aasiya along with her personal secretary were arrested at around 9:20 am in the morning.

She said that Aasiya was last year arrested on October 4 and was shifted Baramulla Sub-Jail. She was later released on December 21 and since then remained under house arrest at her Srinagar residence.

Nasreen said that Aasiya is suffering from many ailments and is under treatment. “Aasiya Ji used to take fifteen tablets per day as she is suffering from many ailments,” Nasreen said. She added that even at the time of arrest, Aasiya was very ill.

She said that Aasiya had many times wished to meet her jailed husband, Dr Qasim Faktoo during her house detention. However, she was denied a permission every time.
