Following massive clashes in North Kashmir’s Kupwara, some youth sustained injuries and were shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Sources said that one Showkat Ahmad, s/o Ab Jabbar Ganaie, was hit by tear gas shell in head and was rushed to SHMS Srinagar.

“He is stable,” MS SMHS told Kashmir Life. “Right now, he is undergoing CT Scan.” Showkat reached SMHS just half an hour ago.

Sources further said that two other youth identified as Danish Shaikh, s/o Abdul Qasim, r/o Handwara and Fazil Ahmad, s/o Gh Mohammad, r/o Kupwara have admitted in Bones and Joints hospital for treatment. All are fine, they added.

Reports from Hirri area of Trehgam said that strong protests erupted after Friday prayers. “Clashes erupted as forces used tear gas and aerial firing,” locals said.

Earlier, one youth was shot dead by army in Nutnussa area of Kupwara after protests erupted against civilian killings.

Four persons were killed by forces on Tuesday and Wednesday during protests after allegations of molestation bid by an army man.

Kashmir observed complete shutdown for last two days against the civilian killings.
