Following defeat in the just concluded LAHDC Leh Elections, J&K PCC Saturday said that BJP played emotional card and wooed the people of Leh by promising grant of Union Territory Status.

Reacting to the outcome of results JK PCC Chief G A Mir stated, “accepting the verdict of the people in the true sense of democracy, however, BJP wooed the people of Leh by playing emotional card of granting UT Status to them.”

“Likewise BJP did in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly election to emotionally exploit the people on Regional and Religious issues,” he added.

The state Congress chief further said, “the ruling BJP put all their resources and official machinery at its disposal besides utilizing the  services of their entire National Leadership in these local elections  where Congress Party  has remained in the service of people for two consecutive terms, anti-incumbency Factor was obvious against Congress Party.”

“The division of votes with the existence of local forces in the fray also contributed to the victory of BJP which mainly concentrated on the UT grant which the Congress Party could not have done because of its  stated position of maintaining  unity and integrity of the State,” he said.
