Locals from Sumbal area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir Saturday alleged that continuous nocturnal movement of choppers and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at 3 Sector Headquarters of Indian Army located at Manasbal are giving them sleepless nights while the noise pollution during night hours have become nuisance for them.
A delegation from different hamlets of Sumbal Bandipora including Nesbal, Naninara, Zazoona, Ahan, Wangipora, Cheva, Safapora and Inderkoot told CNS that people especially babies are unable to sleep due to continuous chopper and UAV movement at 3 Sector aerodrome. “As the night approaches, the movement of choppers starts in the Sector. The deafening sound gives sleepless nights to the people. This is the routine in the sector,” they said.
“The area is peaceful but the chopper movement during the night hours on daily basis surprises them,” the delegation said.
When contacted a top Army official from Sector 3 said, “it is a kind of security drill going on in the sector.”
