SRINAGAR

The continuous rain fall in Kashmir valley since last two days triggered landslides in many areas.

Reports reaching from North Kashmir’s Uri said that around four families have been shifted to safer places.

“PMGSY is constructing road in our area. The continuous rainfall caused landslides in already loose soil because of continuous cutting by machines,” Nazir Hussain Shah from Gohalan area told Kashmir Life. “Proper walls should have been constructed but nothing of that sort has been done so far.”

Nazir said that around four families have been shifted to neighbouring village by locals themselves. “There was no official help to take us to safer places,” he alleged.

When contacted SDM Uri, Showkat Ah Rather, said, “we have taken cognizance of the matter and departments concerned have been asked to construct the walls at the earliest.”
