SRINAGAR: The Bakshi Stadium, in the heart of Srinagar, which had been roaring with cricket cheers and enthusiastic fans, finally fell silent on Wednesday as the Legends League Cricket (LLC) bid farewell to the Kashmir Valley.
With over 27,000 fans packing the stands the previous night, hearts raced as the Southern Superstars clinched victory in an exciting superover against Konark Suryas Odisha.
The atmosphere was electric, with waves of cheers and chants echoing throughout the stadium.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said it was a matter of great delight that after 36 years, such a major cricket tournament was held in Srinagar.
“The tournament brought cricket fever to the Kashmir Valley. The crowd that gathered shows that this is the changing Kashmir. This is the result of peace efforts over the past 4-5 years. It started in Jammu last year,” said the LG.
The stadium was so packed that some ticket-holders could not find space to sit and watch the live action.
In the thrilling final, the Southern Superstars won a nail-biting encounter to become the champions of Legends League Cricket 2024, defeating Konark Suryas Odisha in a super over. (KNO)
