The second phase of voting for the municipal elections is going on in various across central, south and north Kashmir. The overall situation is offering an interesting picture with poll-bound areas exhibiting a sort of strike and those not polling having a normal life.

Lal Chowk, the heart of Kashmir is normal with traffic plying and shops open. However, life is almost frozen in areas like Batamaloo and Qamarwari.

Most of the urban polling stations that Kashmir Life reporters visited had minimum votes. But in areas likes, Sumbal and city periphery reported a respectable polling.

Authorities have kept the polling station, mostly in Srinagar and major towns like Anantnag and Beijbehara under tight security cordon. In certain areas, it was difficult for reporters to manage an excess despite carrying the proper official permissions.

No violence was reported from anywhere in any of the 12 belts where voting is in progress.
