As the civic polls are going on all over the state, the Kashmir region witnessed a mixed response from all over the valley. In a recent incident, in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district, a local voter was thrashed by the angry protestors outside the polling station for participating in the polls

Reports said that the voter, a local resident of Kahnabal area of the district had come to cast the vote at the polling station established at Government Boys High School Khanabal. Soon after he left the station, the voter was caught by a group of unknown youth outside the school. He was first asked why he cast the vote and then beaten up for participating in the elections.

In Islamabad, 258 voters have cast their vote with the percentage of 0.8%, till 12 noon.

Earlier, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from ward two of Ramban municipality in Jammu and Kashmir died of heart attack. The candidate identified as Azad Singh Raju 62, a retired government employee died soon after he cast his vote at Sunaari Mohallah in Ramban.
