One BSF head constable was reported dead in Pakistani shelling at the LoC as many others were reported injured. Rival armies have been exchanging fire and shells hitting at each others position, media reports said.

Reports from Rajouri suggest that a BSF head constable was killed early Monday in heavy shelling from Pakistani Army. He was one of the five BSF personnel injured during the night long shelling in Tarkundi belt of the frontier district. The slain security man was identified as Singh, a resident of Kheri Sapala (Rohtak), Haryana. He is survived by his wife Sunita Devi, three sons and a mother.

Reports said the condition of other security men injured in the action was serious.

The shelling is literally non-stop barring brief halts intermittently. Nowshehra sector witnessed heavy shelling on the weekend and later it shifted to Sunderbani. A BSF man and a woman were injured in the twin cases besides serious damage to two houses.

Northern Command stated on Sunday that four soldiers were injured in Pakistan shelling and firing in Balakote and Tarkundi sectors of Poonch district and Manjakote sector in Rajouri. “The Pakistan shelling is being responded to and will be responded appropriately,” the official statement said.

Since September 29, top security officials accuse Pakistan of resorting to 286 incidents of firing and shelling along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in the state. These incidents have led to 26 killings including 14 security-men.
