SRINAGAR: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma today said the National Conference (NC) is experiencing a clear political downturn, claiming the party’s “hollow palace is crumbling” as voters across Jammu Kashmir move away from what he described as outdated politics and empty promises.
Sharma said he had earlier predicted the NC’s defeat in the Budgam seat, adding that public sentiment now reflects widespread frustration with the party. He said the NC’s setbacks in Nagrota and the anticipated outcome in Budgam demonstrate that people no longer support its “politics of convenience”.
He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) represents development, accountability and genuine change, while accusing the NC of failing to evolve or respond to people’s needs. According to Sharma, voters are increasingly aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of peace and progress.
He thanked the people of Nagrota for supporting the BJP and expressed gratitude to Budgam voters for what he described as a decisive rejection of the NC’s politics. Sharma said the BJP remains committed to working with sincerity to meet the aspirations of people across Jammu Kashmir.
