SRINAGAR: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Wednesday took over as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Udhampur-based Northern Army Command, officials said.
An official said that he replaces Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, who completed a 15-month tenure.
Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar retires on April 30, concluding a service career of over 30 years.
Lt Gen Sharma, an infantry officer, brings with him an extensive operational background. He has served in key operations including Pawan, Meghdoot, Rakshak, and Parakram.
He has held several important appointments, including Director General Military Operations, and in the Military Secretary Branch. He also served as the Director General of Information Warfare at the newly formed Information Directorate at Army Headquarters in New Delhi. (KNO)
