SRINAGAR: A magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday evening, with light tremors felt in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
The earthquake occurred at 6:44:16 pm on October 5 at a depth of five kilometres. Its epicentre was located at latitude 33.890°N and longitude 74.992°E, around 28 kilometres south-east of Srinagar.
The NCS classified the earthquake as light and said it was reviewed by the concerned seismic monitoring authorities. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The shallow depth of the tremor resulted in it being felt in Srinagar and nearby areas.
Earlier on Monday, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Afghanistan, with light tremors reported in parts of Kashmir.
The Pulwama earthquake was the second tremor reported in the region on Monday.
