Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik was Friday arrested as he led a protest march against proposed “KP Composite Townships” from Maisuma towards Lal Chowk after prayers. Clashes followed in the area resulting in injuries to many protestors. Abid Bhat, a photo journalist was alsoinjured in the action.

JKLF chief along with his hundreds of supporters had started marching towards city centre Lal Chowk and as soon as they reached near Akhara building a large contingent of police swung into action and arrested Malik with his dozens of protesters.

Police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the protesters who pelted stones on the men in uniform resulting in chaos in the area.

The sepapratist group had called for protests post Friday prayers against proposed “KP composite townships” in the valley.
