SRINAGAR: Security forces on Monday apprehended a man allegedly impersonating a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Domail on the Baltal route to the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The accused, identified as Harvinder Kumar, a resident of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was intercepted at the Domail Gate during security checks after he was found wearing a CRPF uniform and carrying a fake identity card of the paramilitary force, officials said.
Following his apprehension, Kumar was handed over to the Police Post, Baltal, for questioning and further legal proceedings.
Officials said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the motive behind the impersonation and determine whether the accused had any ulterior intent. Further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
