The Chairman of Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik Saturday condemned the ‘brutal’ assault on jailed Zahoor Ahmad Bhat in Kuthwa Jail. Bhat is the brother of JKLF’s founder member Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.

As per a statement, Malik has said that Bhat was assaulted by some goons inside the jail at the behest of jail authorities and has been critically injured.

Malik said, “This deadly assault has put the life of JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Bhat on stake. Authorities have been playing a rough behavior with since his arrival in the jail.”

Malik has also expressed his concern over the deteriorating health condition of other JKLF leaders Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and Showkat Ahmad khan who are serving life sentence in Srinagar center jail.

“Ill treatment with people in prisoners is alarming and unbearable and if this is not stopped immediately its consequences will be fatal,” said Malik.
