SRINAGAR

Reacting to the announcement of Dr Mehboob Baigh of South Kashmir to campaign in favour of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, party General secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar Sunday said that “Baigh kept the party in dark.”

Talking to radio Kashmir, Sagar said, “I Talked to Mehboob Baigh just two days before and offered him party candidature from his choicest segment in south Kashmir but he insisted to contest from Islamabad.” He added, “Even Sogami sahab called him a day before during which Baigh sahab did not reveal anything.”

“We fail to understand what happened in just few hours and Baigh decided to campaign in favour of the man whom he was calling a murderer of Kashmiris,” Sagar said.

“Politics in our part of the world is fast losing ethical values,” Sagar added.

Earlier, NC got a jolt when one of its senior leaders, Dr Mehboob Baigh announced to quit the party. Baigh announced his unconditional support for Mufti, however did not formally joined his party PDP.

This is for the second time when Dr Baigh deserted NC. Earlier, he along with others in mid eighties also abandoned National Conference and supported late Ghulam Mohammad Shah to achieve throne.
