Mehbooba Keeps Two Cabinet Berths Vacant

As the four PDP men faced axe after Mehbooba took over the next J&K’s chief minister, the two cabinet berths have fallen vacant.

Interestingly, unlike Mufti’s 25 council of ministers, only 23 ministers took oath today.

Among the biggies who faced axe, included Altaf Bukhari and Javeed Mustafa Mir—both ministers in Mufti’s cabinet. The duo’s omission has come on “dissidence” and “performance basis” respectively.

Unlike her father’s cabinet, Mehbooba apparently has only 14 cabinet ministers—nine from PDP and five from BJP. The notable omissions are BJP’s Sukhnandan Kumar and PDP’s Altaf Bukhari and Javeed Mustiafa Mir.

While BJP replaced Kumar either with Chaudhary Shyam Lal or Ajay Nanda, the PDP is yet to name its replacements, keeping the options open.
