Peoples Democratic Party President and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Monday asserted that the party is fast emerging as a platform for right thinking and progressive people to contribute to the welfare and development of the state.

Speaking at the joining of a  surgeon, Dr. Mir Samiullah, into the party fold, Mehbooba said that since its inception it has been the aim of the party to work as a facilitator and bridge the gap between regions, communities and groups in the state so that J&K negotiates with its problems in a unified manner.

While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Samilluah said the party has been a strong votary of peace and dialogue between India and Pakistan, and believes that in mutual coexistence only lies the future of both India and Pakistan.

He said the ups and downs in the situation in Jammu & Kashmir and relations between India and Pakistan only reinforce the fact that the vision and roadmap as laid out by Party patron, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed holds key to the resolution of the problems of the state and better relations between the two neighbouring countries.

He further added though being a hard-core professional, he has been deeply moved by the policies and vision of late Mufti. He said he met the late leader once only and after that meeting firmly believes that his ideas only can get the state out of the uncertainties and despondency.

Hailing from Nayan Batapora in South Kashmir, Dr. Samiullah, according to spokesman is the first liver transplant surgeon of  Valley besides being a leading pancreatic surgeon.
