MeT Forecasts Light Rain, Snow at Scattered Places in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to see spells of light rain and snow at scattered places over the next 10 days, with fresh snowfall already reported in some higher reaches, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.

Fresh snowfall was recorded on Wednesday in the higher reaches, including the Gulmarg (Afarwat belt) and Zojila areas, as an active Western Disturbance affected the region.

The MeT forecast issued on Thursday said weather conditions would remain partly to generally cloudy from October 8 to 10, with light rain likely at scattered places and light snow possible over higher reaches.

For October 9, the department has forecast generally dry weather, with a brief spell of light rain possible at a few places towards the evening.

Generally dry conditions are expected from October 11 to 13, although a brief spell of rain may occur towards the evening or night of October 13.

The forecast indicates generally cloudy weather on October 14 and 15, with light rain and snow over higher reaches, besides the possibility of thunder and gusty winds at many places.

The weather is expected to remain generally dry again from October 16 to 18.

In its advisory, the MeT asked farmers to continue harvesting and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy.
