SRINAGAR: Staff working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on Thursday said that it will go for indefinite strike from March 20th this month.
President MGNREGA Association, Jan Muhammad told CNS that a month ago during their meeting with Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq, the later had assured them all the issues and problems faced by employees will be addressed. “It has been over a month and the Minister has failed to keep his promise. We were engaged after selection by district selection board framed by state’s Rural Development Department. No TA, CA and border allowance is paid to any employee except programme officers. Since, our demands, which we have put across a number of times to the minister and concerned authorities, have not been full filled, we have decided to go for indefinite strike from March 20th this month,” he said.
