Stating that militants could revive fresh attacks on security forces ahead of forthcoming parliamentary and assembly polls, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15th corps Lt. General Gurmeet Singh Friday said the infiltration bids on LoC are expected ahead of the snowfall in Kashmir valley.

Singh said ahead of polls, militants will try their best to make their presence felt and that the forces here are ready to face any kind of situation. While showing reluctance in providing the actual number of militants operating in the state, Singh said that the due to the security situations, the actual number of the militants could not be made public.

While talking to reporters, Singh said that the coming time would be a big challenge for the security forces, stationed in the state due to the forthcoming parliamentary and assembly polls. He stated that the militants could launch the fresh attacks in the state and that the security establishment here is competent in facing the major militant threats.” There is a better understanding between the various intelligence agencies of the state due to which the forces had successful operations against the militants in North Kashmir during the recent past.”

“There was only the first round of snowfall on the line of control and all the routes have not been closed still. There could be fresh infiltration bids but the forces here are ready to face any situation,” said Singh, adding that the militant leaders have visited LOC recently and that intelligence inputs have alerted the security establishment in the state.

During the passing out parade of Border Security force (BSF), Singh while lauding the services of the force said that BSF has done commendable job in the stability and peace of the state.
