While terming the proposed ‘Million March’ on 7 November as birth and basic right of the Kashmiri people and a vital part of “freedom struggle”, Chairperson Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani said that the “Million March” program is a “clear message to the Indian rulers, their local agents and the world community that Kashmiri people will never bow before the autocratic and brutal military occupation of India and they will always raise their peaceful voices in one way or the other against the atrocities and barbarism of Indian forces in Kashmir”.

He said, “the proposed ‘Million March’ is not just a program but it is the sentiments of the people of Jammu & Kashmir against the illegal and forced occupation of India in Kashmir. The peaceful, disciplined and dignified ‘Million March’ on 7th November Saturday will strength our just cause and will boost our case in the international forums.”

While commenting over the massive crackdown, nocturnal raids by the police and army on the residences of the pro-freedom people and youths and “war like temper of the forces”, Geelani said, “we have a very vast 68 years of terrible experience with the police and Indian forces in Kashmir that how they mercilessly and without any regret kill and use excessive and brutal force against the common people of Kashmir especially against the Kashmiri youths.” “The use of force against the peaceful, disciplined and dignified march and the results and reaction thereof will be the responsibility of the government and the police of which the international community should take serious notice.”

While strongly rejecting the “Indian statement at UNO in which they have said that Kashmir is their integral part and the elections in Kashmir are their right to self determination”, the Hurriyat chairperson said, “the stand of India at UN is the reflection of their imperialistic mindset. Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally acknowledged disputed territory and any election drama held in the presence of the 8.5 lakh occupational forces can never substitute a free and impartial plebiscite in a disputed region.”

In a statement to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani said, “Jammu & Kashmir has never been any part of India and nor is it today. This country is holding this land merely with the help of its military might. The majority population of Kashmir has continuously opposed this forced occupation from the day one and they can never even think of remaining with India.”

Hurriyat (g) chairperson said, “the UNO has itself while terming the elections in Jammu & Kashmir as local administrative issue clearly stated that these elections can no way influence the disputed status of Kashmir and it cannot be the substitute to the referendum process. Secondly the state of Jammu & Kashmir is the most militarized region of the world and holding of elections here in the massive presence of Indian army can never be termed as free and fair. The pro-Indian parties of Jammu & Kashmir are repeatedly praising the Kashmir policy of BJP leader and former prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and are creating a notion that as if he had done any favour to the Kashmiris.”

Geelani added, “Vajpayee was not having any extraordinary vision or policy about the Kashmir and he used to follow the same RSS policy which Modi or the Congress is following. India has a set (RSS) policy regarding the Kashmir and whoever comes to power this country they have to follow the same rule and by praising Vajpayee Sahab, the pro-Indian political parties of Kashmir are befooling and deceiving the Kashmiri people which are their traditional habit.”

While terming the Indian army or the other paramilitary personals as “foreign forces in Kashmir”, the octogenarian leader said, “the people of Jammu & Kashmir have witnessed the worst kind of state terrorism and brutal face of the occupational forces in the last 68 years of military rule. In just last 25 years the Indian forces have killed more than a lakh innocent people in Kashmir with the result 600 martyrs graveyards have come up in Kashmir. Despite destroying property worth billions, these forces have raped thousands of our daughters and sisters and the Indian army is using the rape as their vital war weapon in Kashmir.”

“About 10 thousand people have been subjected to custodial disappearance and the same number of people has been killed in custody of the forces,” he said. “The Indian military occupation is blocking all our revenue avenues by occupying our agriculture and orchard lands and by looting our natural resources.”

Geelani said, “the “Million March” is our democratic right and placing restrictions over this peaceful program reflects the fascist thinking of the Indian rulers. These programs will continue in Kashmir till the achievement of our goal of freedom.”

The Hurriyat chairperson cautioned the Kashmiri people against the wicked designs of the “pro-Indian political parties and assured them that we will definitely get freedom from the Indian forced occupation but we have to be united and committed for our cause.”
