SRINAGAR: National Conference MLA Mubarak Gul on Wednesday urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to introduce Kashmiri and other regional languages as part of the school curriculum to preserve linguistic diversity and cultural identity.

Speaking during the Zero Hour of the Autumn Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Gul said promoting regional languages in education would strengthen cultural roots and foster inclusivity among students from different parts of the Union Territory.
He also proposed the construction of dedicated hostels for students—one in Jammu for Kashmiri students and another in Kashmir for students from Jammu—to encourage inter-regional understanding and ease accommodation challenges faced by students studying away from home.
