Sajad Lone Flags Shabir Shah’s Failing Health, Seeks Action on Prisoners Held Outside Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: People’s Conference Chairman and MLA Sajad Lone on Wednesday raised serious concern in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly over the continued detention of prisoners lodged in jails outside the Union Territory, citing the deteriorating health of senior separatist leader Shabir Shah.

Lone said it was meaningless for the Assembly to “shut its eyes” to the plight of such detainees, particularly those whose health conditions had become critical. “If this Assembly shuts its eyes to people in jails outside, including Shabir Shah, then what is the point of this Assembly?” he remarked, urging legislators to acknowledge the humanitarian aspect of the issue.

Highlighting reports that Shah was unable to stand due to his fragile health, Lone called for the government’s intervention. “If we cannot intervene due to legal constraints, we can at least consult the concerned ministry,” he added.
