Breaking his silence over Tral killing, JK CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed Wednesday termed the killing an “unfortunate incident” and said the Army should have been more cautious.

“The Army should have dealt cautiously in the situation,” Mufti said. “It would be looked into like the earlier Budgam incident where Army admitted to its fault. We will find the facts in this case. Such incidents should not take place.”

Khalid Wani, a brother of Hizb commander, Burhan Wani was killed in an army action in Kamla forests on Monday. He had visited his militant brother with biryani along with his three friends.

Earlier army termed its kill as “militant”. But as Tral protested against the “civilian killing”, the army backtracked from its earlier statement, saying, “Khalid was Hizb’s over ground worker.”

In fact, police, later too termed Khalid a Hizb’s OGW.

But Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin denied Khalid’s alleged Hizb links.

Muzaffar Wani, the father of slain youth earlier also rubbished army and police version saying: “My son was innocent. He had nothing to do with militancy. He was tortured to death.”
