At a time when AFSPA clamour is rising, JK CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Monday made it clear that his government wants to take Army on board before revoking the ‘draconian’ law.

“I cannot scrap AFSPA in one go,” Mufti said. “My government will proceed with phased removal of AFSPA after de-notifying some areas from Disturbed Areas Act.”

Maintained that the Army is apprehensive over this move, Mufti said: “I will do it with Army’s consultation and after taking them on board.”

However, Mufti said the Unified Command is accountable to state government.
