SRINAGAR: The Mughal Road, the strategic highway connecting the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Shopian in South Kashmir, was closed for traffic on Saturday following multiple landslides.
SO Traffic, Mughal Road, Mohd Mahroof said that vehicular movement has been suspended as a precautionary measure after debris and slides were reported at several places along the route.
Officials said men and machinery have been deployed to clear the affected stretches. The road will be reopened for traffic once it is declared safe for movement, they added.
Authorities have advised commuters and transporters to avoid travel on the Mughal Road till further notice and to follow updates issued by the Traffic Police. (GNS)
