Police Friday morning arrested separatist leader and National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan from his residence. He was wanted in a two year old case pertaining to raising ‘provocative’ slogans at Karan Nagar Srinagar in 2011.

Moreover, a non bail able warrant was also issued against Khan by a Pattan court in a yet another older case.

A National Front spokesman told Kashmir Life that a large contingent of police raided the house of Nayeem Ahmad Khan early Friday and arrested him.

Confirming the arrest of Nayeem Khan, police spokesman told Kashmir Life that he was wanted in an older case so he was arrested and he is going to be produced before the court.

Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Government had recently accorded sanction to prosecute senior Hurriyat(M) leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Almost a couple of years before Khan was booked by police along with his associate in case FIR number 72/ 2011 under section 147 RPC and 13 of the UA(P) Act. In the FIR, police had accused Khan and his associate of raising provocative slogans against the sovereignty of India on 16th September 2011 in Gol Market area of Karan Nagar Srinagar.

Sources said that  Police vide letter number Legal/San/48/S/2012/352 had sought permission from the Home Department for launching legal proceedings against Khan.

  1. His facial appearance conforms to his activities. He is a criminal. Govt should detain him under PSA. Moreover his wife works in kashmir university as professor in english dept under GoI, but he himself is involved in antinational activities.these leaders befool people. Such morons should be dealt with strictly. They r threat to peace and democracy.
