SRINAGAR: A heated exchange erupted between the ruling NC-Congress and the opposition BJP in the Assembly over the issue of chartered flights.
During the Question Hour, MLA Shopian, Shabir Kulley, raised concerns about the alleged misuse of public funds on chartered flights and demanded the formation of a House Committee to investigate the matter.
Responding to his Cut Motion, the government said that Rs 14 crore had been spent on chartered flights.
NC-Congress MLAs supported the call for a probe, while BJP legislators accused them of political posturing instead of pursuing a genuine investigation. This led to a verbal clash lasting over 10 minutes.
Amid the uproar, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather intervened, assuring that the Chief Minister would address the issue during his reply to the discussion on grants for departments under his charge at 3:30 PM today. (KNO)
