National Conference Saturday demanded a time-bound probe into the death of a civilian at an encounter site in Chancer Kulgam.

While condemning the tragic loss of a fisheries department employee Assadullah Kumar, Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “The NC legislators, while condemning the tragic loss of a young life in Kulgam, demanded that a time-bound probe be announced to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of Assadullah Kumar,” he said.
He also condemned the alleged harassment of civilians in the area saying such an approach would result in further alienation of the people.
Demanding ex-gratia relief for the family of the victim and a job to the next of kin, Imran demanded that CM Mehbooba Mufti breaks her silence on civilian killings. “Over the past couple of days the situation in south Kashmir is deteriorating but CM has decided to maintain complete silence. She must speak and reassure people particularly the ones who were forced to protest on Srinagar- Jammu highway following administration’s initial refusal to order a probe into this killing.”
