SRINAGAR

Accusing National Conference leaders of facilitating individual and collective execution of Kashmiris, senior PDP leader and its candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, Tariq Hameed Karra Tuesday said the former Union Home Secretary R K Singh’s revelation that Afzal Guru was hanged with the consent of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made it shockingly clear that NC leaders want bloodbath to continue in Kashmir as it suits their political interests.

“Having lost the public support, NC leaders seem to have ironically turned hangmen for Kashmiris. While Mohammad Maqbool Bhat was hanged on February 11, 1984 with the consent of then Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah got Afzal Guru executed for the lust of power in 2013,” Karra said while addressing election road shows in Ganderbal and Batamaloo segments of Srinagar Parliamentary constituency.

Karra said, “Onus now lies with Omar Abdullah and his father Dr Farooq Abdullah to come clean on the appalling revelations made by the former Home Secretary vis-à-vis their role in the secret execution of Guru.”

He said it was again NC which fuelled a full-fledged armed uprising in late eighties with the massive rigging of 1987 assembly polls resulting in a tragic trail of death and destruction across Jammu and Kashmir.

“As NC has realized that its survival now solely depends on continuing conflict and uncertainty in J&K, the party is overtly and covertly playing all the dirty tricks so that the blood-letting of innocent Kashmiris goes on,” Karra said and added that people have to decide whether they will allow NC to continue with its gory machinations or stamp-out this vicious circle of death and destruction once for all,” Karra said.

Karra, who is contesting Parliamentary polls from Srinagar constituency, said if elected to LokSabha, he will advocate problems of people in the Parliament and let India know what is happening on the streets of Kashmir.
