Describing National Conference a movement of people rather than a mere political party, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is also working president of National Conference Friday asked his party workers to give befitting reply to the detectors of National Conference by time and again exhibiting unity, solidarity and commitment to the public welfare.

“You are the torch bearers of great legacy of Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and his companions. Your party considers power only a means to address and redress the socio-economic and political issues,” he said and added that the faith general people have reposed in National Conference and its leadership since the foundation of the party, is the fountain head of strength and popularity of National Conference which is growing continuously with the passage of time for its straight forwardness and selfless service to the masses.

Addressing the office bearers of National Conference, Pulwama district here, the Chief Minister said that National Conference has passed through many vicissitudes and faced various challenges of the time successfully. He said the party and its workers have always steered the party and the people of Jammu and Kashmir through difficult periods by giving great sacrifices.

As per a statement Omar has said that committed workers of National Conference have always risen to the occasion to serve the people and strengthen the party at all levels. He said the coming years will witness the added spirit in the National Conference workers. He said the combination of elderly and young party workers working jointly with each other and blending experience with enthusiasm is the strong edifice on which National Conference stands.

Omar Abdullah said that his government has reached out to all areas and all sections of the society on the socio-economic front during the last over four and a half years. “Unparalleled initiatives and historic decisions have been taken by the present dispensation to address economic, developmental and political issues in the state,” he said and told the National Conference workers to make the people aware of these path breaking steps all across the state.

The National Conference working President also asked the workers to render extraordinary service to people to mitigate their difficulties. He told them to act as a bridge between the administration and the people in seeking welfare and progress of the state.

The meeting among other National Conference leaders was also attended by the Provincial President, National Conference, Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani.
