National Conference Additional General Secretary and Party’s candidate from Tangmarg (Gulmarg) constituency, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal has said that the coming elections have provided a chance to reclaim the dignity of Tangmarg by exposing and ridding the State of informers and for-hire agents who have bartered the interests of our people for monetary allowances and stipends.
Dr. Kamal said this while addressing numerous workers’ meetings in Aboora, Tarhama, Baba Reshi and Tangmarg town Dr. Kamal also visited the residence of National Conference Provincial Secretary Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir.
On this occasion Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir pledged his support to Dr. Mustafa Kamal and said that he respects the party’s decision to field Dr. Kamal from Tangmarg and will wholeheartedly extend his support to him.
In a statement to KNS Dr. Kamal said that Tangmarg had been grossly and criminally neglected at the local level during the last decade and had been woefully deprived of the development and progress that has been witnessed in the rest of the State under Omar Abdullah’s dynamic, youth-centric leadership. “Omar Abdullah’s vision for Tangmarg and Gulmarg has been realized on ground by the enormous boom in tourism and infrastructure development that the State Government has delivered here during the past six years. However, had Tangmarg had a dedicated, credible and sincere voice – the situation would have been far better today and the people of Tangmarg would not have had to be humiliated and embarrassed by startling disclosures of their representative allegedly having been paid money for orchestrating turmoil and anarchy in the State. How can an MLA serve the interests of his constituents when stands in opposition to the interests and aspirations of the people of the State at large – this, the people of Tangmarg will have to ponder on”, Dr. Kamal said while addressing workers meetings in Tangmarg.
Dr. Kamal asked the NC Block Presidents, Halqa Presidents and Youth Halqa Committees to take a lead in ridding the State of informers and for-hire agents and this would be a great service to the nation. “You have an opportunity to script a new chapter not only for Tangmarg but the entire State by cleansing our politics and bringing credibility and transformation not only to Tangmarg but entire J&K. The youth of Tangmarg had had enough – they will not tolerate humiliation anymore and will register their protest against misrepresentation and political manipulation in the coming elections. It is your sacred duty to cleanse our society and ensure that we leave our future generation a future of dignity and respect – one of progress and prosperity. I am asking for you valuable support to reclaim our collective dignity and tread a new path of development hand-in-hand”, Dr. Kamal said.
Dr. Kamal said that it was National Conference that saved Gulmarg from PDP’s nefarious designs when PDP was out to illegally sell every inch of Gulmarg by awarding illegal leases and licenses in the tourism destination in lieu of money. “PDP has never had anything to contribute to Tangmarg and will never play a constructive role for development of Tangmarg. Our fight is directly with the incumbent MLA and PDP is not in the reckoning in Tangmarg”, Dr. Kamal said while addressing the party workers and office bearers.
Addressing party workers and youth activists, NC Provincial Secretary Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir asked the workers to continue striving for Tangmarg’s dignity and respect by exposing those who were caught red-handed in working against the interests of the State and its people. Advocate Showkat Mir said that Omar Abdullah has always and will always hold Tangmarg’s future very dear to him and wants to continue in his efforts to make Tangmarg a world-class tourism destination with added impetus to indigenous units of trout farming, hybrid horticulture and handicrafts retail. “Omar Sahib can do marvels for Tangmarg and it is our duty to support his efforts and vision for the youth of Tangmarg by sending a credible, pro-J&K and honest leader like Dr. Kamal to the Assembly from Tangmarg”, the NC leader stated.
