National Conference’s Kashmir provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani Saturday said that his party was bringing a separate bill in the coming session of Legislative Assembly for scrapping the law banning slaughter of bovine animals and sale of beef in the state.

“Right now we are in a process of consultation with legal and constitutional experts on the issue and in the coming LA session we are bringing a bill seeking scrapping of article 298 A&B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC),” Wani told KNS.

Asked if NC will seek PDP’S support in this, he said: “It is for them to decide.”

Wani added that prima facie it appears that the court order banning beef was a sinister design of government to divide people on religious lines. He said the lawyer who has filed the PIL in this case, “was rewarded by government by appointing him as Deputy Advocate general.”
